In response to the increase of cases provincially and the developing government regulations, we have decided to move our in-person events online. This will remain indefinitely until it is safe to hold in-person events once again.

HUCSC CONTRIBUTION TO THE STUDENT RELIEF FUND

The HUCSC has donated $10,000 to the Student Relief Fund in support of Huron students

As a Council, our mandate is to enhance the educational experience and quality of life for our students. Due to COVID-19, the capacity of students to access both their education and the student culture at Huron is compromised. COVID-19 has affected every student differently; over the course of the last month and a half, we have watched our students struggle with the sudden shift to online schooling and social distancing. Our students, like others across the world, are struggling to find a sense of community while we are so physically separated from one another. Another significant struggle for our students has been contending with concern about the affordability of tuition, rent, and other necessary expenses in the fall given lost work opportunities over the summer. HUCSC wants to do our part to ease the financial burden on students so they can continue to engage academically and socially at Huron.

Huron’s Student Relief Fund is a student-initiated project designed to do just this. This Fund will allow our most vulnerable students to access assistance as they need it and is a testament to the strong community ties at Huron. Our students deserve support, and together the HUCSC and Huron are here to provide that in whatever capacity we can. In addition to contributing to the Student Relief Fund, HUCSC will continue to provide programming and support to students virtually. Your executives are working hard on contingency plans for the falls as well as coming up with ways for us to connect over the summer!
