HUCSC 2024-25 Mission Statement

The Huron University College Students’ Council (HUCSC) aims to enrich the educational experience and quality of life for all Huron University College community students. Through transparent organization, democratic representation, and advocacy, we prioritize student voices and needs.

By providing engaging programming, support, and meaningful opportunities for involvement, we strive to foster growth and achievement and create a safer, more inclusive, accessible, and sustainable environment to empower and serve our student body.

In the spirit of reconciliation, we acknowledge that our campus at Huron University College is situated on the traditional territories of the Anishinaabeg, Haudenausaune, Lenaapeewak, and Attawandaron peoples, all of whom have long-standing relationships to the land of Southwestern Ontario and the City of London. The First Nations communities of our local area include Chippewas of the Thames First Nation, Oneida Nation of the Thames, and Munsee Delaware Nation.

With this, we respect the long-standing relationships that Indigenous Nations have to this land, as they are the original caretakers of these spaces. We acknowledge historical and ongoing injustices that Indigenous peoples endure in Canada, and we accept responsibility as a public institution to contribute toward revealing and reconciling miseducation as well as renewing respectful relationships with Indigenous communities through our teaching, research and community service.
